We work in partnership with our global sisters to create generative solutions. When we desire to bring out the best in ourselves and others, we are on the right path for success. A bright gem in that arena is the value of grace.
Grace is a golden link that binds us to others, and it applies to all our relationships–whether it’s dealing with our employees, colleagues, clients, family, or friends. It’s also the link of civility that connects us to strangers.
One project I was privileged to work on years ago was to refurbish and restore a local organization. Serving with a committee that included leaders from different faiths was remarkable. Funds were raised and donated toward the project, and together we were able to create a positive impact on our local community. There were several ingredients that were needed in order to achieve this success. One of those important ingredients was that of grace.
Amongst the committee members, there were differences in beliefs and cultural backgrounds, there were differences in opinions as to how to achieve the goal, there were differences in ideas of what was important. But the common value that conquered all of that was grace.
Honoring each other’s best selves and focusing our heart and intention on being a blessing to another allowed us to achieve a wonderful victory in our community. It’s this example I offer as a solution for others so that as we work together to create solutions, we can also ease burdens and become a strength to each other and those communities we are part of now and in the generations to come.
My children accompanied me and had a pair of shoes that traveled with us to each of these projects. By the time we finished the projects, the shoes were covered in many different colors. To us, they were a beautiful tapestry of service. I’m grateful my children were there to experience this because they will know firsthand that good still exists, that people from different backgrounds can still join together and create much good because they saw and experienced it themselves. When we think back on those events, our hearts and minds are hopeful that grace will be abundant now and in the future of our human family.

I don’t know what your individual or collective stories are. You may feel you are wandering in a desert searching for water or yearning for a warm fire for relief from the cold. We may indeed be wondering where the key is to the chains we feel burdened with. I offer you the gift of grace as a resolution.
When grace enters in, the building tools and the brightness of hope become solid and real. A favorite passage of mine is found in the book of Psalms in the King James Version of the Holy Bible. It reads, “the Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.” Psalm 34:22
This month let us strive to honor our global sisterhood and create generative solutions with grace. Sending some hugs because one can always use a good hug!
